How We Use God’s Word

Power Point Title Slide for How We Use God’s Word

Lesson Notes

Our purpose statement begins: “we exist to put forth the Word of God.”

We exist to tell others about Jesus.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the one to whom we are accountable.

Hebrews 4:12-13 (NLT)

How We Use the Word of God

We use the Word of God for communicating the essence of God.

The LORD replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose. But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live.” The LORD continued, “Look, stand near me on this rock. As my glorious presence passes by, I will hide you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and let you see me from behind. But my face will not be seen.

Exodus 33:19-23 (NLT)

Three Reasons We Communicate the Word of God
  1. We communicate the Word of God because it is essential for spirital maturity.

  2. We communicate the Word of God because it is essential to spiritual effectiveness.

Observations from Hebrews 4:12-13
  1. If the Word of God is alive and powerful, it must be unleashed in the world.

  2. If the Word of God is like a scapel, it will be uncomfortable.

  3. If we cannot hide from it, we must live responsibly.

Your word is lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

    Psalm 119:105 (NLT)
