A Celebration of Kylee’s life will be hosted by First Christian Church of Fort Myers this afternoon (Sunday, March 2010) at 5:00 PM. The service will be streamed live on the internet for those unable to attend in person.

***ROCK CLIMBING***- We are all going to head over to the Tallahassee Rock Gym from 10-12pm.  IF you want to climb you MUST bring $10 AND the filled out waiver form (signed by your parents).  You must wear tennis shoes to climb.  If you don’t want to rock climb you don’t need to bring $10.

After the February meeting, we had 3 finished quilts that were donated to A Women’s Pregnancy Center here in Tallahassee.  The receptionist said the quilts were wonderful and that they look forward to any others we can provide. The quilts are given to women who test positive for pregnancy and to new babies. Our finished quilts bear a label that says “With love and prayers, First Christian Church, Tallahassee, Florida”. We pray that the quilts provide comfort and hope at a time that may be very scary and confusing.

We will be meeting Saturday, April 4th starting at 10:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall.  We have 2 quilt kits that were cut at February’s meeting ready to be sewn.  There is also more fabric to cut to create more quilt kits.  Hopefully we will get to pin basting and possibly quilting.  Bring your own lunch or money to get something nearby if you like.  We plan to sew until 2:30 or 3:00 PM.  Bring with you sewing supplies, machine, and cutting tools.  We have some supplies on hand that can be shared as well.

Our planned dates for the rest of the year are the first Saturdays in the months of June, August, October, and December.

Update: The April meeting of Quilting Connection has been cancelled.

They are also looking for treats for their faculty staff meetings which are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.  If you would like to provide a treat for one of their meetings, please see Tammy or contact the church office.

Field Day is on March 26 for the 3-5 grades, and March 27 for K-2nd grade.  If you would like to help, please see Susan.

The Fun Card is a $23.75 value, but we are selling them for only $13 each.  For every ticket we sell, Fun Station is donating $5 to FCC Youth Ministry.  We will use all of this money for our summer mission trip to New Orleans.

The Fun Cards can be used on ANY day/night of the week. 

The youth group is planning on going to Fun Station on Saturday March 28 from 7-9pm.  Please join us.  If you cannot make that day you can use your Fun Card any time.

Your story is important, and although you may not feel it is interesting, it is to others, and deserves to be told.  We want to preserve these memories as a testament to future couples.

A questionnaire will be made available Feb. 15.  Once completed please put in the specially marked box in the foyer.  These need to be returned no later than March 31, 2009.  We would also like a picture of your wedding day, or a current picture to be used with your story.

The theme of our Women’s Ministry Brunch this year is “Paying it Forward”, and all women of the church are invited.  We’d like to extend a special invitation to our College young ladies, and a warm welcome to our new members and visiting guests.  Please feel free to invite a friend – you will be twice blessed!  Let this be The Event to start your New Year off with a spark!

You are asked to bring a breakfast/brunch dish to share.  There will be a sign-up sheet in the foyer so we won’t have a dozen egg casseroles!!  Make your favorite dish – we’ll all ooh and aah, and ask for your recipe!  There is always such a delightful variety!  We do plan to have a nursery for those with young children.  Please sign up if you will need this service, so we’ll be prepared.

We plan to begin our “Secret Sisters” program again, after a few years’ respite.  We’ll explain the program at the Brunch and hope you will participate.  It is an opportunity to pray for and edify your sisters in Christ in a very fun and unique way.  There are other exciting opportunities for growing together as Christian Women and serving the Lord that we’ll discuss.  You won’t want to miss a minute!

First Christian Church is pleased to present a free concert on December 14, 2008 at 7:00 PM at the church. Our praise team will present Behold the Lamb of God, a musical presentation written by Andrew Peterson, a Floridian singer-songwriter. Light refreshments will be served following the concert in the Fellowship Hall.
